Here’s a chitchat with debutante music director Manju Remo who is all set to show the magical compose of his through his debut Kannada Webseries Anashku. Let’s hear out from him
Q1) How did you make your interest towards music field? Any particular reasons.
Ans: At the age of 12, I was made to learn drums and went to various competition and won first prizesThis boosted me to learn even more and got into music field as a player and after that I met with an accident. I got my legs injured very much and was unable to play. I took this as a challenge and worked on it and then started playing drums again and during this 8 months after accident, my composing hunger became more and more then started getting opportunity to compose and was fortunate enough to learn from Nadhabrahma Shri Hamsalekha Sir for an year and got greater music opportunities and also got to do keyboard programming for various people who are in need and also worked in various projects too.
The major reasons for getting into music is influence of greatest composers like AR Rahman, James Horner , Hans Zimmer, Harris jayaraj and mainly my guruji Shri Hamsalekha Sir.
Q2) Who is your Dronacharya in the music field if you are Ekalavya?
Ans: My Dronocharya in music is AR Rahman and his styles of composing. I tried to recreate the same compositions and found it hard to do. But I didn’t leave it and that made me learn even better and after watching some of great composers got interest in learning Carnatic music and it’s been 2 years and still the learning is going on.
Q3) Share the experience you had in your first project Anashku?
Ans: Anashku was a great experience to work upon. I was in the shooting spot and director used to advice me to take up these scenario in mind and try to compose on spot if possible. When I saw making at first, I got little fear that can I really do this project, But then all my team members didn’t lose any hope on me. They said “yes you can do, you are capable” then I came up with a scratch tune which everyone loved after many previous tune rejections and this was the theme of Anaskhu. Overall it was really great experience to work upon and major part of music is this composition has lots of live instruments which gave us the live feel in music.
Q4) How Anashku is different from other projects of yours?
Ans: Anaskhu is totally a different though I’ve worked for couple of horror and psychological thriller short films before Anaskhu, It was a way different maybe the camera work was great the actors on screen gave a great inspiration to score the background music even more better and story of course was also in a different plot which made me work even more better.
Q5) What are your plans as a music director after Anashku?
Ans: After Anaskhu, I obviously want to continue working with the same team and same banner Kreeatma if I get opportunity to do one such. Apart from that there are few albums which have been recorded and yet to release, After these scheduled releases i am planning to make some of my own concepts into song and I also need all of your support as u have done till now.
Q6) What is the message that you want to convey to those who watch Anashku?
Ans: Anashku is a whole new concept and each and everyone in this project has worked very hard to make this a great one. So I request you all to watch and enjoy this series which keeps you entertained and also hold the suspense in mind because of the twists and turns it has and I can promise that it will never make you bored. it’s a great series to watch.
